“Solidarnosc” in FIAT factory in Tychy protest

The “S” unit in FIAT subsidiary in Tychy protested against drastic reduction of bonus wages for 2009. Some 1000 workers gathered in a rally. The bonus, usually paid in the beginning of June, is supposed to be reduced by 40% in compare to previous years. The workers have increased their productivity enormously over the last year, and the principles of the bonus payments are set by collective agreement from 13 years ago. On top of the situation, the FIAT management is considering transfer of production of Panda model back to Naples in Italy. This was commented as unjust protectionism and blackmail of the Polish workers who appealed to their Italian colleagues to refuse to participate in the game against each other.
